So Ghost and Price are Bear Hybrids

Soap is a wolf hybrid

Gaz is a coyote hybrid

And reader is a Shark hybrid

So hybrids have a body shape that makes them blend in with the environment that they're animal forms are in so Ghost and Price have a muscles yet it's not defined cause they also have a layer of fat and they have soft chest hair

Soap has an athletic body with muscle he's thick but not as thick as price and ghost also has soft chest hair

Gaz also has an athletic build with chest hair as well

And y/n has a mermaid like body so she has thick thigs that tapers in nicely to her calves and feet, she has a bit of a tummy fat, and she also has semi broad shoulders with arms that have a bit of muscle

So hybrids have a full human form but the only thing that remains is their teeth so price and ghost have human sized bear teeth, gaz has human sized coyote teeth, and soap has human sized wolf teeth, and y/n teeth are sharp she doesnt have multiple rows like sharks thats only in her shark form, and its scary looking so she wears a masks to not scare anyone

They have partial forms so price and ghost can turn their ears into bear ears and grow a tail and have bear paws and claws, soap can have his ears turn into wolf ears and grow a tail and have wolf claws, gaz turns his ears to coyote ears, grows a tail, and have claws, y/n's form her ears become inner ears and she grows gills and her nose and cheeke area have "freckles" that can sense electric magnetic fields (if she's in water) but out of water she her mid back area has a dorsal fin above her elbows have pectoral fins which she can use to slice up enemies and stab enemies that are coming from behind her using her dorsal fin, and her skin changes to shark skin but she only has a limited time of 30 minutes before she dries out and gets weak and could potentially die until someone splashes a good amount of water on her, when in water she turns her lower body is that of a shark

Hybrids also have the ability to communicate with the actual animals that the hybrids stem from example y/n communicates with sharks

In their full form, they turn into their respective animals. y/n is different she can choose which shark she wants to be

Laswell brings in y/n to be part of 141 and with the body figure she has the boys except for soap are like the hell we need a mermaid for, and soap says its a good thing she could play her siren songs on our enemies, hypnotize them and we go in for the kill, and she's probably wearing the mask so we're not hypnotized by her looks. the men think about what soap said and they're all in agreement that yeah having a mermaid is a good thing when you put it like that and y/n is just like what ever makes them happy and when asked for a callsign, y/n replies shark and they're left wondering why shark they shrug shoulders and proceeds with the meeting.

The mission that they're covering it involves an underwater cave that is hiding a weapon that the enemy team is going to use when the time is right and it can only be accessed when it's low tide, cause at high tide thats where the sharks congregate.

Everyone except for y/n is wondering how are they gonna pull this off when low tide is in the morning, y/n states that she can go and that she understands the risks with the sharks and so they start preparing for the mission.

One boat ride and they arrive at the general location where the cave is at, it's night time and thats when y/n reveal that she's a shark not a mermaid hence why I wear a mask my teeth scares people, she takes off her mask strips naked and jumps in the water and there she transformed into a mermaid shark lower body shark upper body human.

She surfaces back up tells them to go back to the dock and have 2 people in the car waiting and two at the dock waiting for her with a towel so when she retrieves the item they dont have to waste time getting back to the dock to the car cause that could give the enemies time to get to them.

So they listen to her and starts to head back to the dock and y/n goes under and starts looking for the cave she finds the cave, tells the sharks she needs that weapon, the sharks let her through, and she retrieved the weapon, and starts swimming back to the dock.

She arrives at the dock hands the weapon over to gaz tells him to wait for them in the car, soap hands her a towel and wraps herself with the towel and they both head to the car getting in tell them to drive. Soap then asks so you don't have siren songs and y/n is like I actually do have that yeah and ghost is like so your a shark huh cool you're perfect for the 141 when doing underwater extractions and y/n says I can fight on land in a modified half hybrid form but only for 30 minutes cause I'll dry up and if i dont get splashed with water in the for 15 minutes after i dry up I could die, and price is like noted I'll keep that in mind and y/n then says oh and if I dont go the beach or a big body of water like a non chlorinated pool like every 2 weeks I get stir crazy and act out really bad and Price then says I'll add a deep salt water pool on base that goes from 20-30 ft sound alright, i love it says y/n

I believe it is time for me to talk about piper again

Something i really dont like about this fandom is that we were quick to hate her even though the main reason wasnt her character

People generally hate her because of her relationship with drew. The problem here though is not piper, but the way drew was portrayed by the author. Drew was a flat character, and to me she was a lot like Nancy Bobofit (who didnt appear a lot tbh). In my opinion, if we knew drew a bit more, hers and Piper's fight would be much more interesting.

They also hate her because she ONCE said that the aphrodite cabin was shallow. We all know how rick has treated the aphrodite kids, right? Percy has said many things like that about them but noones hating on him. I know that is not an excuse but see the difference on how we treat the white boy?

Another reason is that she is not as traumatized as the others (??whywouldthatbeareason??) and people say she complains a lot, which, to be honest, i did not see in the books.

To start with, she was most of the time neglected by her dad who didnt understand her needs and never paid attention to her (to the point she had to steal a freaking car thank you very much). We' ve seen she was treated really bad from the kids in her school (racist comments and also comments about her family) and lets not talk about how bullying affects teenage kids. Lets just say that we all sympathized with percy when he was bullied and changed schools all the time but noone talks about the fact that piper was also bullied (and not by having pb&j thrown at her, which is also bad but...)

People also say that she is a "pick me" and "not like other girls". First of all, shaming her because she doesnt wear makeup or isnt stereotypically "girly" is more misogynistic than anything you say piper did.

She has never ever said anything that implies shes doing so for boys. Sje genuinly didnt like those things and people straight up attacked her for being a teenage girl with MASSIVE OTHER PROBLEMS TO DEAL WITH.

She did not shame drew for liking makeup as far as i remember, she only called the cabin shallow because they treated her EXACTLY like her bullies.

Also she "only talks about jason" and is "possesive". Hmhm. Reminds you of anything? OH! ANNABETH! But the white blond girl was excused because she was a "teenager", yet ive never seen anyone defend PIPER'S mistakes with that excuse, even if it is the truest thing for both her and Annabeth.

I have nothing against percy and annabeth, or people who headcanon piper as girly, but we should remember that canon piper was a teenage girl and support her just like we do with annabeth.

zatta is paranoid about mirrors in the la squadra hideout because of one accidental incident in the bathroom which was frankly a mortifying ordeal for the both of them and neither has mentioned it to the others

used to be human, hes pretty traumatised about being dead but hasnt explained how he died and doesn't like thinking about it

he cant read text when its written left to right anymore

mirrors in every room of the hideout except bedrooms where mirrors are kept covered and only uncovered in case of emergencies so sorbet is always seen standing out of view of mirrors because of the Incident

they actually have a really really awkward TV setup specifically devised so illuso can also watch TV

one time zatta accidentally shattered all the mirrors in the hideout with depeche mode. this was inconvenient for illuso who said he himself actually shattered for a bit until there was a new mirror.

btw usually ill refer to slugcats just with they/them pronouns but some of them will use pronouns like he/him or she/her depending on my personal headcanons for them i think arti and hunter use any pronouns but use she/her the most, rivulet uses he/they, and spearmaster uses any but primarily they/them idk man its just how i see them, call any of them whatever you like !!!!

anyways

monk is one of the few slugcats in the group with no glowing whatsoever, instead being able to grow flowers on their back these flowers can be picked without hurting monk, and if gifted to any creature will remove any hostility that specific creature has towards whoever gave it to them. the effect stays even if the flower is lost, and the flower doesnt mean the creature wont go back to being hostile.

its kind of like. "wow this is a great gift ok i wont beat the shit out of this person" and if you arent treating said creature kindly it will go right back to hating/wanting to eat you

monk is always at max karma and can grow karma flowers (although pretty rarely) alongside the normal ones. the karma flowers dont have the same effect as the normal flowers, just. normal karma flower !!

theyre pretty quiet, but super friendly and hate seeing people fight. they suck at breaking up fights, though, and usually just end up trying to find somebody else to break it up

next up is artificer !!

artificer, along with a couple others like hunter and spearmaster, does most of the protecting for the group.

although capable of glowing, its not something she can do easily and its not something that really worth trying to do

Along with her normal explosion jumps/explosions, she can do a MASSIVE explosion which stuns and/or kills any creature in a pretty large radius. usually if theres a lot of creatures in one spot she'll go in, explode once or twice, and then come back so she doesnt stun/hurt any of the scugs in the group.

she can use the massive explosion once, maybe twice before needing to lie down and cool down. using it causes her scars to start glowing a bit and smoking and they get very hot which hurts arti a lot, so she doesnt use that explosion very often, only when she really needs to.

her usual explosions often work fine if she overheats from any of her explosions it has the same effect, but it starts a lot slower and just keeps building up- faint glowing, getting hotter, and starting to smoke

shes very protective over the others (at least, the ones she likes) and struggles a lot with keeping her emotions in check, as she has a habit of getting worked up over things and needing to sit down and calm herself down for a bit.

arti uses any pronouns, she/her preferred (she and hunter are partners. love them)

aaand hunter !!

Hunter is based on a lantern mouse in terms of design. when sleeping, relaxed, or in bright spaces, she looks like the first design (dark red/orange-red one), but in dark places or when feeling a strong emotion they kind of "pop" to the lighter form and constantly glow (like a lantern mouse), their eyes and tail tip glow the most (eyes also get slightly lighter in color)

hunter is fairly serious but likes to slip jokes into conversation while keeping a straight face and not changing their tone at all, just to see if anyone will notice

shes usually hanging out near artificer

has the rot (of course how could i not) and sometimes it'll start to effect him more than usual, causing them a lot of pain and making it hard to walk. if it gets bad enough she can just collapse and wait for it to wear off enough for them to get up again

hunter uses any pronouns, she/they preferred (eheheh artihunter)

edit rq to mention: hunter does have scars, but theyre too dark to see on the darker ver and the glow from the other ver hide them (aka i forgot to unhide the layer with scars so here we are)

I dont mind the blue hair/blue eyes combo, but Dante AND katelyn having it is a bit much 🤷‍♂️ AND they couldve kept Laurances original colour pallet :( I totally get changing the design bc of the skins, but in MYS theres no lore reason for Laur having blue eyes so at least they shouldve been green right??? Im also devastated hes not ginger but alas <\3

I think overtime the girls in the show have less variety, particularly in the hair. No different lengths or anything. I mean, just take Cadenza! She has longass hair in s1 but it eventually gets cut the same length as Kate, KC and Aph. The girl with THE most variety in character design - and probably one of the best designs imo - is Kim, and i literally couldnt tell you a single one of her character traits other than 'possessed'. Her highlights are different and I like her colour pallet.

The guys all look... kinda similar too. But they did well differing them in little ways, like hair partings and such. I do want Laurance's long hair back tho. Jess dont be a coward give us ling hair ginger laurance

I think its very funny that Laurance has ABSOLUTELY NO fashion sense, but i would like clothes to be more consistent! I like Dante's outfit with the button up/button up/shirt combo, even if it was ridiculous it felt in character - although its a shame that after Aarmau was made canon no other character could wear purple or red, because dante looked good in red!! I love Garroth's hawaiian shirt getup and they should bring that vibe back for him for sure.

this isnt so much an issue with character designs because. minecraft. but there arent many different body types. Like, I think Aphmau and Zane are fat, and then Travis has broad shoulders (according to 1 line of dialogue in s1, and hes still buff). and everyone else is just somewhere on the sims4 slider of skinny and strong.

All in all im torn abt Luci because I think its cute for her to be the odd one out (as i said in my If-I-Was-Tasked-With-Rewriting-Mystreet post), but thats clearly not the intention and you kinda forget shes a witch at all. Which would be cool if it was brought up? idk. Her black dress + bow was her best outfit i think. The red eyes and the bright ginger hair is a lot on the eyes and the black is a good combo for that.

TBH, the only Aph outfit I liked was the one from Season 3, but her current skin (non-mystreet) is actually very cute. I like it a lot

People have said this a lot, but one BIG issue i have with the mys designs is the colour pallets. Im a big fan of shows where one character is heavily associated with one colour, and though this doesnt HAVE to be the case for Mystreet, Id like then to be consistent. Kate's colour has always been blue, Travis' colour has always been green, Aph/Aaron Purple/red, Kc pink, zane black/grey, and Garroth is usually blue. but Dante, Laurance, Lucinda, Melissa, etc have had some super inconsistent ones.

One character design that I like across the series is actually KC. Once they know how to pair the pinks and black/white well, they do pretty well with it! Its just a lot of pink and easy to get wrong. but they do well

Travis' also isnt that bad, the outfit of his i really remember was fhe green hoodie and black trousers which felt correct.

To go back to the eye colours, Its fun to see Jess' thought process bc like. almost ALL of her love interests have blue eyes except aaron? idk. food for thought.

i woke up from the dream into another dream, where i talked with my grandma about it. we went to a pharmacy to pick up some meds i'd accidentally not been given, and my grandma was...very confused the entire time, showing symptoms of dementia

i started crying in the pharmacy and ended up sobbing on the way out and back to the car. thats all i remember

the other dream. i dont fully remember what happened inside, but something about a girl becoming a woman but she kept changing heights as the way she saw herself changed? it was from the perspective of the girl/woman but it wasnt me but it kinda was..? it was in my grandmas old house, and she had all my things. she was wearing ddlc cosplay and in her adult form looked a lot like monika. she had to go out for something, and brought all my stuff- my bags, my plushies, etc.

the car was parked in the front yard? which. makes no sense cause irl it would barely fit a car, it's surrounded by hedges, and it's up a very tiny flight of stairs.

but her and her mom or grandma go in the car just to park it down the street so a neighbour can lend it later, and then get into the car with the dad, putting on several seatbelts and protection cause hes a bad driver or something?

and then. i go to the kindergarten, up along the forest, and notice three kids looking into the trees. there's two cars that have crashed, one of them is missing the entire roof, which lays a bit behind it. there doesnt seem to be anyone helping, just the people in the crash

i see something that looks severed. something moves and i see it's a man's torso. weird dream logic that makes no sense, but i could see his entire severed torso and his spine through it but he was also standing on one leg? i genuinely dont know how this worked, i just know i saw that his entire torso was severed but that he was also standing on one leg (the other was severed)

oh another good veve Ogoun took all of the cooking utensils to form himself Ogoun lets Missy wear herself out trying to injure him and gives her a talk once she's calmed down also the local rugarou pack finally show up and are glad no one got eaten. Missy tells the pack she not gonna take them up on talking with them about shit b/c she doesn't plan on transforming again. And tells the rest of the kids the heartfelt moment changes nothing about the fact that she doesnt like them also apparently chamomille can kill rougarou, and Lou tries to tell Missy this b/c she should know the basics the kids find out through an offhand comment that vampires are also real

Stanley asks Soleil if he can be her friend b/c she's pretty cool all the other kids are becoming friends ah the mayor does know about the rougarou and demands to know which one destroyed his garden local demon overhears the mayor talking at his wife's grave and makes a deal with him help the demon regain its power and it will help him get vengeance b/c that will go well

ive reached another time where i feel like i need to vomit out all the shit thats been churning in my psyche. you know that feeling where you dont want to go to sleep because of this subtle sensation in your stomach? I think its dissatisfaction, both with myself and with the people around me.

the girl that i broke up with turned out to just be a hoe. She played w my heart and told me i was " the right guy at the wrong time" and that "she needed time to be single" and then immediately hopped onto some mid ass white dude LOL. anyways i fucking hate her guts. not cause she doesnt like me anymore, but because shes a damn liar. on a positive note it just means that little plot threat in my life has just been tied up, and now all i have to do is reconcile with the distrust for people that ive already been harboring, so nbd.

the ppl in my life kinda got me fucked up tho. right now i feel like theres no one genuinely there for me. I have a therapist, but you cant rlly get the level of intimacy with a therapist in the way youd have with family or friends. so right now i feel like i have nobody. my friends all suddenly seem extremely disinterested in talking to me. someone who i consider my best friend barely texts me and brushes off making plans and never reaches out. and my other friends just dont seem to really care or respond to me anymore. I think this stems from a lack of masculinity in my life. having high free testosterone does not make me a man. being aggressive or stoic does not make me a man. but theres this concept of a real man in my head as something to aspire to be, but its an extremely vague and loose concept ive formed. despite being 20, i dont really see myself as a man. but im not a boy either. not to say im non binary. im just in this awkward in-between period. I wish i had a genuine masculine figure in my life who i could look up do. my dad is more like reddit atheist ben shapiro who debatelords me when he doesnt like me doing something. i dont live with him anymore so those problems are in the past, but the lack of a male role model is catching up to me, and its on me to define my own masculinity, but like fuckkkkkk i dont think ur supposed to do this by urself.

Part 2, because im not done with my rambling lmao. This can be a separate topic, because it's not exactly about the same thing, but more like an explanation of part 1, but mostly just satire and observation about emmy's characterisation and interactions with others.

I dont know how to feel about the one i mentioned in Part 1, because I really love female characters who have flaws, even better when they have a great and believable arc about it (doesnt even matter if they got redemption or not), but this constant narration of emmy being "judgmental", we're always reminded of it, as if it's a fatal flaw, as if she has the worst character flaw than any others when we we kept on being shown how she wasnt at all each page we read, felt so unsatisfying, weird and illogical to me. I dont get the same satisfaction as when I read about Rika, Banks and Winter learning their own judging, internalised misogyny and changing for the better. Emmy's "judgmental" arc was so flat, i hated it. If PD really wanted to make Emmy a judgmental bitch, they should have at least made Emmy's thoughts and actions worse than 75% of Rika, Banks and Winter, combined. Thats the only way to go, because if I had Emmy as a friend, theres not much to her words that would be cutting to me, because most of them were true, people just dont like to hear it, and i dont always have to hear what i want to hear from my close ones, but then, Emmy IS a kinder person than me, lmao so take my opinion with a grain of salt. Like even when Emmy was "judging" these people yeah, I remember her making counter-arguments to temp down her negative arguments in her head about what was going on, and it was never malicious or evil. She was more analysing and critical, than maliciously judging, as the word "judgmental" implies. She wasnt even going after the people she criticises, at most, she made fun of them here and there, and they werent even as disgusting as her bullies, or Arion Ashby. It was so unsatifying to see. I thought we'll get a Nesta Archeron from Sarah J Maas' universe, or Silver from Rina Kent's universe, level of bitchy, but Emmy wasnt even half close to Nesta or Silver, and she got so many stones thrown her way. Before I read nightfall, i thought she was an evil bitch or something but then i read nightfall, and i was like, huh? Whats this? I fell in love with Emmy still, but not because of what i thought coukd be the reason to it: that she was mean, judgy and bitchy. Lmao, it was a very weird experience tbh. I fell in love with her character still, but at what cost? Hahahah.

No wonder Micah and Rory trusted her and took her side in the train, because Emmy was always just minding her own business, took care of others & only fought when necessary or under duress, which was probably very contrasting to the kind of people that Micah and Rory have probably met and had to deal with in the lives at home before and during Blackchurch with Aydin and Taylor (Micah being a son of a terrorist, watching innocents being killed left and right, and his mom being sixteen when she birthed him, and Rory a son of a rich high profile politicians, but had no one who cared enough to serve his brutalised sister justice so he had to do it himself, then he was sent away from it, kinda remindd me of The Glory, a Korean Drama about serving revenge for unjustice. Rory's character that we see when he was with Micah, Emmy and Will, especially, was also very contrasting to the way Alex described him to Emmy). When emmy said to the blackchurch gang about their rich privilege lives not having to worry about going home and work bare minimum wage or smth, it was made under stress, and everyone was shitting on everyone, aydin was even more violent towards Micah and Rory just because he was a loser ass bully. But even then, emmy's "insult" was only made after many threats thrown her way to assault her and some classist things said here and there to put her down like "oh yeah you wear something from target that my mom own", (which was sad because she knew her class without anyone mentioning it but it was kinda funny too ngl because aydins mom was girlbossing ebing aceo of a wel-known company, and he was being a loser ass flop bully in vlackchurch? Unlike Aydin or Taylor, emmy didnt go out of her way to cause pain to others, even through others (like how taylor used aydins protection to hurt Micah, Rory and Will, but Emmy did the opposite and helped them instead), and i think these moments were the moments where Micah and Rory saw her character and personality the best, and was able to start to get along well with her, because even in duress, she took care of others, eben stranger like them first, before she did anything. Like cook for them, fight for and with them, playfighting etc., joke around with them, etc. She could literally just try to instigate something about Micah Rory to Aydin like what taylor did, but she never did, and like i said, she surprisingly get along with them and caring for them instead, so why wouldnt Micah and Rory NOT trust her, more than anyone in that train. Maybe even faster than when they trusted Will, lmao, no womder Will was sulky when they took her side, and had to take them on acar ride to show them around time. Even better when they found out Will was mad at a kinda embarrassing thing, because 1. he got dumped in high school and 2. she put them in jail because her abusive brother tried to kill her grandmere ☠️ it's so embarrassing when you think about it in their povs, they probably made fun of will and co. in their heads because didnt Rory asked will why emmy was here? And didnt will "mysteriously" said something like "oh everyone has a reason to be here", like WHAHHWHAHAHA thats so funny. And after all the good things they saw and heard she did, why the hell wouldnt she side with her? Anyway, coming back to that "emmy judgmental" discourse, basically, i already ran out of things i want to say about it because i think i already made it clear about how i thought emmy was like and how i wished her character was instead earlier, but some other cases of being judgy but not really: i remember Emmy talked to ella at school, and said soemthing that can sound kinda judgy to others, but really she was just saying "ok yeah, if thats your kinda fun, go ahead" but then she saw how ella's face changed and quickly made up for it because ella was just being nice, and it wasnt ellas fault for whatever that was happening then. When she saw damon in the train with winter and made a general assumption about his love life, saying something about damon being married and winter liking someone like damon. Was it not fair to do so, kinda? But damon himself had a history of treating girls like shit, and suddenly when she meets him again, he changed, so i dont think it's a bad assumption to make, because his change was drastic. 80% of kill switch he was shit to winter, but then she confessed, and he wasnt shit anymore?? This was also why i hated damon's arc, because the last 20% killswitch and the whole conclave damon was so??? As if PD wrote a whole different character. We disnt even see him slowly change, it's exactly like a kill switch, as if he was suddenly kinda good now? What the hell was that? It's so unsatisfying to see. Like winterdamon's conclave arc was literally winter being bitchier than damon, like what the hell was that? Maybe damon is the only person she"ll be bitchy towards, but still, why is this man suddenly soft? And out of nowhere he was shit to misha? As if misha wasnt the first to notice will's disappearance? Huhhhh? Anyway, conclave solidified my opinon towards damon's character arc: pure shit. Also, how was he suddenly better than michael? Huhhhh? + your discussion with that Anon about Damon And Emmy being mirrors is kinda interesting 🤔 I feel like if Damon chose to build more than to destroy, he could be more like Emmy, and if Emmy chose to live in hell rather than heaven, she could be more like Damon. To me, Emory and Banks were more similar to Damon than Rika, because lf their personalities. But i can see why Rika was Damon said that Rika was similar to him instead, because what they wanted was to be the centre of chaos, but Banks just wanted to be safe and happy, and Emmy just wanted to be with Will, build things, and destroy things with her loved ones. But at the core, Damon and Emory's personality was more familiar than they would ever like to admit. In fact, i dont think they even noticed this, might even need one or some of their family members to point this out, only then, they might notice it. Because both are highly secretive loners, so it needs a lot to peel off their masks, kinda ironic that they were the ones who saw themselves in the other first before anyone even relise this. They're like foils to each other, so similar, yet so different. Maybe their dynamic is like Ill and Alex, but not quite either. Because i believe, Will and Alex was only mirrors when they enable each other, but in reality, they too, were like foils, like Damon and Emory, bcause what they want in life is different. Alex wanted to be rich, indelendent and fight against prejudice against her for being lower than these high class people yah, but Will always wante dto just do better and more. So even when these four are mirrors to their pain, there not parallels to their wants. Emory's wants and needs are the ones that are parallel to Will's, that's why they ended up together, because their main motive of life is very similar, to do better and go beyond everything.

Now, i also saw one of the latest anon post bout POC DN, but unfortunately, i dont think we'll ever get that from PD. I'm a POC myself, and i never expected or thought PD would go for this route, in fact, when i read DN, i knew the kind of fictional characters that im reading (everything that i cant relate), which i was very grateful for. Because i dont think PD had it enought in them, of the knowledge or sensitivity about POC or religions, to go about this topic. Ive read most of their books, and anything related to race, ethnicity, and religions are just a no-go for PD so far, and its totally ok, better for them to write what they can and want to write rather that asking for the impossible. The story is gonna come out ok, but was it honna be good? Idk. It's like a fish climbing a tree, can they do it? Maybe, but can a fish climb it well? No one knows. It was always implied in text that PD wasnt really interested to write these kind of things, and like i said, i think thats totally fine. Their niche is always about "doing whatever you want to the fullest", and even then, a lot of context are still very western-values (this observation coming from a non-western POC myself). I hope that anon understand that if they wanna find something POC related, better to find it from other POC writers instead, you can just search it up on tiktok for it, theres a lot of similar books with POC characters i promise, theyre just not as popular. I think With Cindy on Youtube made similar and good arguments about this POC thing in two of her videos for: deadly Education (?) by naomi novik, and that addie la rue book by ve schwab. You guys might wanna check it out about this kind of discourse if you're interested i guess.

Other than that, i like that anon's observation about wanting damon's love interest to be just as intense or razy like him, because i was expecing the same!!! Like, even rika was crazier than winter. You can take winter out of the story, and it still wouldnt change a thing, thats how useless her character waa in the series. Her character only serves the purpose of being Damon's love interest (LI). I thought inter was going to be fiesty as we get deeper into their story, but it never happened, and the one (1) time she was being mean to damon about his mom, she was being shit on by a lot of readers, as if damon did not soend the entire kill switch being horrible to her, especially in that haunted house. I expected more but she didnt even fight him much? Idk, damonwinter was just so unsatisfying to me not only because of damon, but also because of winter partly. So much potentially for her to bully the fuck out of damon and made him her lapdog or something you know, but it never happened! But i dont hate winter though, idk how anyone could hate her, but still, she still brought nothing for me. Even when she was soft, kind and nice, it wasnt intense. As annoying as rika was, at least she was in everyone's face about it, but winter was just? There? I guess? I love soft, nice characters, but i love them like i love Esme from the Bride Test and Eve from Act Your Age Eve Brown, like their softness, niceness, is just soooo deep you know, but winter was meh to me. For a book thats supposed to be about feeling everything the most apart from corrupt, kill switch didnt deliver for me for this reason, and also because the plot was shit. But then every dn book has shitty plot sooo idk.

Except... I’m kinda gonna derail you for a second because your comments got me thinking. Another reason why it bothers me that blackchurch happened towards the end of the series is that we don’t really get to see Emory act in normal circumstances. In Nightfall, she’s always stressed. She’s either dealing with her life as a teenager or she’s literally been kidnapped and dragged to an island to be threatened by men who are so bad, their families don’t want anything to do with them (at least as far as she knows). Like, we can agree that being judgmental is not the fatal flaw that the narrative makes it out to be, but then… what are Emmy’s real flaws? It can be a little difficult to determine because she’s always reacting from the gut in NF, not making decisions how she’d normally make them. And while I love that she’s quick and decisive enough to protect herself and deal with the situation, I’m kind of left wondering.

So I did some research and looked up character flaws to see which ones I can see in Emory, just so I have an idea. I think it’s important to note that any trait can become a flaw if it’s imbalanced, which is why it’s hard to tell under the circumstances. Who wouldn’t be off kilter in the same situation? Based on just a few lists (that are in my likes if any of you are interested and what to offer up your own), this is what I’ve come up with:

Argumentative – even if she did agree, she always had a comeback or never went along easily. I think she liked arguing in her literature class, as long as the topic didn’t hit too close to home. When they're disembarking the train, Will asks if she's going to stop fighting and she says never (something to that effect). Girl likes her verbal spars.

Blunt – she had a habit of saying things the way they came to her head, or what she was really thinking, even if it hurt someone’s feelings. She could also be opinionated, and offered what she thought without being asked. Even though it was often true, it wasn't the nicest way to convey the thought. In certain situations, she would speak first and then apologizing when it came out wrong.

Competitive – not always a bad thing, but I think if she didn’t have Martin holding her back, she could have fallen into the trap of taking things too far.

Critical – I think this is where people get her confused for being judgmental. She is highly critical of people. She has high standards for herself and those in her company, but she doesn’t judge others for their legitimate failings or mistakes. She judges them for not meeting the standards, especially when they have every opportunity open to them and the path cleared.

Maybe a bit of a perfectionist, but it’s hard to say. If so, it would go along with her competitive nature.

Maybe a bit stubborn, but then she’s been pushed around so much it’s hard to say it’s a flaw that she tends to dig her heels in when she can.

Maybe a bit aloof – the tendency to go off on her own/work on her own. But we’re shown that she’s willing to make friends, she’s just awkward at times because of her history. I think she probably found it easier with Micah and Rory because there was no need to explain. They had an in immediate understanding of difficult families.

And these are all guesses. Some are more accurate than others. But even reading through those lists, the amount of things Emory was not far outweighed the things she might be, even at her worst. It might have been nice if she had a real flaw, like a shining one, that wasn’t caused by her background and one she was unashamed of. But Emory is, I think, the only truly good person in this series. The rest are either morally gray or neutral, for all intents and purposes. Winter might come next. She’s not exactly neutral, but I still don’t see her has being as having as good intentions as Emory does.

I agree with this. I’m not sure if it was the situation or what, but what I did find is that the build up to what made Emory so bad was super anticlimactic because I just looked back and everything I read and was like “Yeah, her decision makes total sense to me. What do you mean this is the reason you’re mad????” I mentioned before what I felt Emory needed to learn, but even then these weren't the same as what the other girls had to unlearn to move forward.

It was kinda the same with Winter, to be honest. Like, I know Damon was mad that she didn’t come to his defense, but at the same time he did lie to her. He manipulated her senses, used the lack of her sight to his advantage, and deceived her into thinking he was someone else. Again, she did herself the disservice of sleeping with a man she didn’t actually know, didn’t even have a name, but even if he did give her a name, that would have been a lie. I don’t completely fault her for refusing to tell them anything. She felt violated. So yeah, she didn’t owe Damon anything. But in saying that, I didn’t feel like Winter had it as hard as Emory. She had friends she could rely on, people already on her side. The hardest I’ve seen readers come at her is that she’s boring or dull (but I'll be honest, I haven't looked that hard). This is so different from Emory, who I felt had more of a defense for her actions both before and after the “event”.

Yes, exactly! She’s critical, sometimes to the point of making fun of them, but she’s not being malicious. She’s not trying to hurt anyone or planning to hurt them. And I think even if she wanted to, if given the chance, she wouldn’t take it. I’m not sure, but I think abuse victims are more likely to be re-victimize than to become abusers themselves? I think this would be true for her.

I thought we'll get a Nesta Archeron from Sarah J Maas' universe, or Silver from Rina Kent's universe, level of bitchy, but Emmy wasnt even half close to Nesta or Silver,

So you were hoping for someone sarcastic and mean to put these men in their place, and instead you got compassionate and kind, and yet still put them in their place? Good point. I think Micah could see the kind of person she was before Rory even cared, but it does seem to be that once she was under Micah’s care, she was under Rory’s as well. Not that it mattered much in Blackchurch, considering they were the underdogs, so to speak. But it was an important line to draw. They saw the truth of her character and I think at that point, it wouldn’t have mattered what anyone said about her, they were convinced of the type of person she was. Like when they fell from the balcony and she had the mind to protect his head? I'm not sure I could have reacted so quickly and thoughtfully. And then to not doubt herself that she just saved his life when he could turn around a hurt her? She did the right thing because it was the right thing to do. And that speaks volumes.

I mean, I’m happy they’re happy and all that, but come on, man? You got sent away for refusing to marry the woman you don’t want, okay fine. That’s an okay hill to die on. Oh my gosh can you imagine their discussions! After hearing everything, they’re just side eyeing each other like 'did you hear that or am I crazy?' And when they’re alone, Micah’s just like “wait, did I miss something? Are they really mad because she was backed into a corner?” and Rory’s like “No you got it right.” Like neither of them can fully grasp or wrap their heads around this concept. And then they have to go to the wedding and hear about Rika… no wonder they were trying to grab the girls and run. They for sure mock these guys when they’re alone, or maybe even with Emmy who can’t help but laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.

I can see this being the thing that solidifies Rory’s loyalty. Like, I never paid much attention to them (sorry, I know people love them. Sometimes side characters slip off the edge of the story for me), but now talking about it, I can see that Rory is loyal to Micah, and Micah feels something for Emmy, so now he’s protective of Emmy too. But only as far as it doesn’t put Micah in danger. Now, though, I can see this being the moment things shift for him and suddenly Emmy moves from secondary to a higher priority.

It is funny that Will got all sulky after that. From now on anytime Will’s like “This is a serious problem.” They can be like

“Really? Serious like the time you went to prison for crimes you committed and recorded, and then you tried to convince me that was Em's fault? Is it that kind of situation? Remind me how long her grandmother lived after that? Was it seven years?”

“…it was seven years.”

“Wow. Seven additional years with the only person who cared about her. And how long were you in prison for?”

Micah and Rory never fail to remind Will just what a drama queen he is.

Right, we all make assumptions or judgments based on prior information. That’s just how humans work. But Emory also adjusted when new information became available. That’s why I don’t think she deserves to be labeled judgmental. She works off information and evidence she already has, not what she assumes to be true.

Yep. There’s a tik tok somewhere in the damon tag that I rb specifically for this reason. I’ll try to bring it up again for reference. But yeah. I agree that he healed too quickly, and it’s not even that he ‘healed’ he just… fixed his ways? I feel like he should have still be a bit messy and manipulative. He was just sarcastic with Misha a little, but then he's never liked his friend’s family members. He didn’t like Trevor either (though, that proved to be for a good reason). Like, I bet if Kai had a sibling, he’d dislike them just as much. He likes Banks and sometimes Rika, and that’s it. Those are the only two valid siblings in his book. Stupid.

Anyway, I wanted him to cause problems and instead I got him softening the blow for when things went wrong and casually joking around.

I don’t know what you mean by how is he better than Michael. Do you mean to the readers? I think the readers just find him more dangerous than Michael and dangerous equals sexy in fiction. I will admit that he’s more fun to read and his character is more fleshed out, but that doesn’t make him a better “person” than Michael. Is that what you meant?

I see what you’re saying. Yeah, maybe 'reflection' isn’t the right word. I can see foil working, but I don’t know if PD ever intended for them to contrast each other like that. Still, I like the idea of them as a duo, however that works out.

I found it difficult to understand Will and Alex in NF, especially when she was saying things like “you’re my reflection.” I think it’s because we were so far removed, Will hardly ever gave clarification on what his relationship with Alex was actually like when they were alone. And then when she did show up, he had Emory on the brain, so nothing was the same. But what I thought was interesting is that I think Alex was trying to say they were the same. That she could hide all her pain under her smile, same as him, and no one would know. And like you said, they enabled each other, possibly mistaking that for strengthening each other.

But when we look in the mirror, our reflection is backwards. We don’t see ourselves the way other people see us. With a bit more pondering, there might be something there in that.

I was thinking the same with Damon and Emory – that they reflect the parts of each other no one else can see. But really, to compare it to Alex and Will, Damon and Emory would have to deal with their pain the same way, and as you said, they don’t. Damon destroys things and Emory tries to restore. So, they aren’t reflections of each other, but I think they can help each other and that’s the important part of a friendship.

 I wouldn’t expect it from PD either. Truthfully, it takes a lot of research and consultation, and it will still never be as good as an ‘own voices’ story. But what I do appreciate is them not changing or completely casting all white characters, if that makes sense. It would have been easy to squeak by with “their skin was golden” or “tan” or “dark” and never really label it. But they did give a clear distinction when needed. We know that Kai is Japanese, and we know that Emory is Jewish, and we know that Winter is blind (if we're talking about diversity, I think that gets to be included). They didn’t shy away from giving clear details like that. Could it have been done better? Absolutely. And maybe in the future, they will be able to do better. There’s always room for growth. It still never be as good as if someone from that specific race or cultural were writing the character.

For me personally, not shying away has been a difficult part of writing and something I had to learn for myself. I’ve never been openly criticized for it, but more of a self-reflection. Sometimes, when a character comes to me, they are just automatically a different race or background from what I’m familiar with. When I first started writing, it felt easier to soften those details, maybe try to hide it so no one could tell if I got it wrong. Eventually, I had to gain the confidence to not change the character, but instead do the best I can to do research and talk to people, maybe even let them read to see what they have to say, and then take their advice or correction.

I don’t know how PD builds their characters, but they didn’t shy away from including POC, so there’s something to that at least. And I know it’s not PD’s forte, but there is something more I would have liked from specifically Kai and Emory’s storyline. I can’t articulate it right now, so I might have to circle back to this another time. I think the Anon was just noting the lack of diversity within the story, and then when POC were brought up that wasn’t Kai or Emory, it was in a sex scene. I can see why that would bother someone.

I mean… I can see both sides of the discussion and both have valid points. The area that PD was writing about has mainly a white population, added to that, Thunder Bay has a population of about 10,000. So their private preparatory academy is going to be made up of mainly white kids. I think there should have been more than two (2) POC in the whole school, even if the kids were coming from a different town because it’s a good private school, but that’s just me. I don’t know what the class size was like. At the same time, they would have just been minor characters at most. Maybe members of the basketball team, or even Elle could have been something other than white. It would be hard to mess that up, and none of those characters were sexualized.

But then does that count as representation? Does it only count if it’s a main character? And do we consider PD the voice we want to hear a POC character’s narrative from? Like you said, they can do it, sure, but is it going to be good?

Much better to look for a POC narrative from a POC author. Like you said, they’re out there, they’re just not as popular.

Same. I think the moment Winter lost me was when she did the dance to Mister Grinch. One, why are you using Michael and Rika’s engagement party for this, though I’m sure Rika loved it. And two, if you’re so scared of Damon, why are you mocking him publicly? It sort of ruined her story for me. From that point forward, I felt like she was always crying crocodile tears. I like the scenes where he took her driving, and even though in NF I was annoyed that Em’s attention had to divert so that everyone can have their cameo, I didn’t mind her seeing Damon get the bike to take Winter on a ride. That was actually nice.

And on that note, as annoyed as I was, it was also like “em was so invisible that she notices everyone else but no one ever noticed her in their story… except for one person.” which was something to think about.

naruto blogging part 3.

naruto actually has a couple chapters where he introspects and reflects on his childhood. it also includes a fist fight against his persona 4 style shadow self. he is no less unhinged about sasuke for this. sasuke on the other hand oh yeah not a shred of reflection or lessons learned, he's running full throttle on emotions only not a single thought in that boys head. no thoughts head empty only angst and violence.

if the jinchuuriki seal weakens during pregnancy why do you keep sealing them in women.

make kakashi a part of anbu at like 12 and sends him of deadly assasinations. but no he cant fight the kyuubi at 15 like lol he's definitely seen worse at this point

538 kishimoto is so trying to make this a thing. he just thought of it and now is trying to retcon the series, again. because none of the spars or fights until now have had this finger thing.

Kishimoto is a master of asspull no jutsu and retcon no jutsu and sudden power up no jutsu but it usually its at least connected. Like with itachi/sasukes sharingan with the left and right eyes just like how amaterasu and tsukiyomi were born of izanagi washing his left and right eyes. And then susanoo finished out the trio of powers/gods. I guess also foreshadowing that izanagi is also a jutsu. Havent seen izanami yet tho.

oh im not done got about another 160 chapters but i've been skipping around and jumping back and forth between the anime and manga. the anime has filler but a lot of the filler is actually pretty decent (and the only time women get screentime) the anime also includes novel information and in some plaes the pacing and presentation of events is actually better. i also got nostalgic and reread some of og naruto

when i said i was talking about drawing naruto i wasn't saying the the series in general i mean the obnoxious hyperactive orange jumpsuit wearing idiot. idk how much you saw but mid 2000s had loads of fan art like this was just after shippuden released and when people drew naruto in his 20s it was always with longer hair which i think is interesting since kishimoto gave him short short hair for his 30s. there's also the changing artstyle from the first anime to the newest as well as in the manga and i find that all interesting so i was thinking of making a refernce sheet for naruto essentially detailing how his appearance changes over time filled with head canons of course.

oh when i say filler i dont just mean filler episodes. the episodes themselves are often paced slow to drag things out or have unnecessary flashbacks. so you have opening and sponsors 2min replay of last part of earlier ep 5min ed + preview + skit 3min +3 min of flashbacks and at a 23min run time theres only really about 10min of content per ep

i think i said this before but wow i feel bad for the ninetails and bijuu. confined and sometimes chained or speared to pin them in place, stripped of bodily autonomy. their chakara or even their body parts or physical form are controlled by another person. because people are jealous of their power, because they do not look human. i have much empathy for the Other, its quite reasonable they want to destroy konoha

Sasuke's hair after the manga ends sucks so like all of boruto im ignoring it. Thinking back a lot of 2010 boys had the cockatoo hair: sasuke, allen walker, noctis, riku?. Anyways long hair could look good one him, tied back like itachi but keeping the bangs. I can understand wanting to hide the rinnegan but sasuke already was THE emoboy of the 2000s he doesnt need to look more emo. But if he had long hair would it be flat like itachi or spikey like madara?

Back to the double suicide pact. I've mainly heard about double suicides in japan in the context of lovers' suicide (i think hxh references this too) where two lovers decide to simultaneously kill themselves because circumstances wont allow them to be together in this life in hopes they can be together in the next. And thats literally what naruto proposes. Ah where the quote... Its like if we die i will no longer be the jinchuriki and you'll no longer be an uchiha we will be free of our burdens. If i cant be with you in this life i'd rather die and wait to be reincarnated with you. Naruto chooses death with sasuke over life as hokage im not over this. I'll take all your hatred so that you are freed from it. Like, bruh, wow.

Another thing i dont like about boruto is that naruto and sasuke dont have matching arms anymore. Its important that they match

having the sharingan evolve into the rinnegan is classic kishimoto bullshit. he just wanted another power level up. the sharingan is so closely tied to the uchiha clan with shinto imagery and then the rinnegan… well its used to create cheap narrative tension to give naruto an op villian to fight via nagato. the rinnegan is associated with buddhist imagery and divinity in naruto-verse and gets like the most random mix of powers kishimoto was clearly scrapping the dregs of his brain for cool power ideas. the 6 paths worked for the pain aesthetic but does mesh at all with the rinnegan's status as ultimate eye. you get attraction/repulsion, mechs, soul extraction, big animal summon, chakra absorption, revive the dead, some other weird summon. basically its whatever kishimoto needed at the time to make pain threatening with his usual 0 thoughts given to the implication for the whole series.

oh its okay. It's just a living situation with my father in law. We have been having some disagreement and argument for a while, regarding parenting. remember when i told you that it takes a lot for me to get real mad or dislike somebody? well this is the example. haha. well, i'm not as organized as people who does asmr to their pantry but if i see something really organize, i guess it gives me good feelings. sometimes seeing even a little things that really not match or organized can "tickle" me in an annoying way.hahaha. i dont know if i have OCD or not. maybe i do but not that bad. im not sure about it.

For example, my husband mostly let Em to pick what she wants to wear but sometimes it bothers me if it doesnt match or something. So I always pick her clothes or give her choices that I already set up for her lol. Even for her pajamas or clothes she wears at home which nobody really see it. lol. He always said "It's okay, let her pick n wear what she wants." and I always say "No, it doesnt look good, i dont like it." or "no, it doesnt match / it's too much going on and it drives me crazy." hahahahaha. but dont worry, i dont force it, if after I try to give her choices n she still pick her own, I let her.

Or I like my hangers faces the same way, or my money in my wallet, i like them facing the same way from biggest number to the smallest. lol.

I'm like this with how arrange while loading my dishwasher. I prefer loading it than unloading it. I load my dishwasher like I'm playing tetris game. lol.

The same with our beddings (especially pillowcases). I have an assigned pillow cases for each pillow. lol. like, i want a certain pillow case is put on to certain pillows. so everytime we wash all of our bedding and he helps with putting on the sheets and everything, he doesnt do the pillow cases because I want to do it n i ask him not to do it. lol You probably think "damn, she's weird" right now. lol.

haha yeah, when u type "STELAAAAAA" i read it with Cam's voice. lol. n yeeeeees! I remember that episode. Cam was on antibiotic medication or something n it says avoid sun exposure and he took it to the next level and then the "dress" that he wears got stuck on the boat's propellers. lol and he had to go to the small store. n i remember when it's dark from the eclipse, he says "hello darkness my old friend." lol.

Speaking about that episode, I have been to that hiking spot where Phil and Claire went. The view was sooooo gorgeous. I remember that there was a huge tree collapse there, it's so big that i had to climb it n i could stand on it and took a pict.

That lake where they were at was called Emerald Bay. It's in South Lake Tahoe.
